Three Treatments Replacing Conventional Plastic Surgery

Your guide to three non-conventional plastic surgeries for a flawless symmetrical face

Conventional plastic surgeries are a thing of the past as more and more people are now opting for more non-invasive or minimally invasive cosmetic treatments to modify their features. Technological advancement and research has made it possible for more cutting-edge aesthetic procedures to be introduced into the market. The reasons for their popularity are minimal downtime and natural looking results. The following are three treatments that have been increasingly replacing the need to opt for conventional plastic surgery.1. BLEPHAROPLASTYBlepharoplasty, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, is a combination procedure designed to tighten and lift sagging skin around the upper and lower eyelids. These procedures dramatically improve sagging upper eyelids and under-eye bags, as well as increase your field of vision, by repositioning fat, tightening muscles, supporting tendons, and removing excess skin around the eyes. The procedure takes anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour. During the upper eyelid surgery,  a minute incision is made along the natural crease in the eyelid to remove any excess fat, skin, muscle, and tissue that contribute to creating a chronically sad or tired appearance. During the lower eyelid surgery, an “invisible” incision is made inside the lower eyelid to remove extra fat and tighten sagging skin.Who is the ideal candidate? Anyone with chronically tired looking eyes characterised by enervation, bagginess, sagging, and excess skin that is interfering with the peripheral vision.Post-surgery recoveryPost-surgery recovery is simple. Bruising and swelling generally subside in 10 to 14 days, which may be when you feel comfortable going out in public again. Scars from the surgical cuts may take a few months to fade. Take care to protect your delicate eyelid skin from too much sun exposure.2. LIPOSUCTION The neck is one of the first places to show signs of ageing. For some, a consequence of this is fat, which is most likely accumulated under the chin. This extra fat and loose skin can affect their overall jaw and facial profile. Hence, a chin liposuction is performed to remove fat from beneath the skin and sculpt the chin and neck contour. A small incision is made under the skin wherein a tube is inserted. Gentle suction is used to remove the fat from strategic locations. Bandaging is applied as necessary. This typically includes a special chin strap to support the skin while it heals.Who is the ideal candidate? Those who have excess fat in the area, wrinkling, or lack of a jawline due to excess skin tissue.Post-surgery recoveryPost-surgery recovery time is minimal. The swelling and bruising usually take a week to heal and you may resume normal day-to-day activities a few days or a week post surgery.3. OTOPLASTYOtoplasty—also known as cosmetic ear surgery—is a procedure to change the shape, position or size of the ears. It is a surgical procedure that is commonly opted for, to reshape the outer ear and correct protruding ear deformity. The procedure typically begins with a small incision behind the ear. This incision is often placed in the fold of the ear so that it is not noticeable by the naked eye. The surgeon will then use this incision to move or reshape the ear by removing cartilage if necessary. Finally, the surgeon will pin the ear back with sutures to achieve a more desirable look.Who is the ideal candidate? Anyone who might have some form of ear deformity or is dissatisfied with their ear shape and symmetry.Post surgery recoveryIt usually depends from person-to-person and takes a week or two. After the procedure, a large bandage is placed around your head which is designed to protect the ear and keep the skin around the ear moist. This dressing is kept in place for a few days until it is swapped for a lighter one.THE TAKEAWAYUnlike conventional plastic surgeries, the above-mentioned treatments show results much more quickly and are also not as conspicuous. However, it is important to keep in mind that these treatments are still surgeries and require a licensed and trained medical professional with some amount of experience. It is advisable to have a realistic outlook, thoroughly discuss the plastic surgery of your preference with your surgeon, and understand the ramifications it is going to have before proceeding with the treatment. To know more about the treatments, book a consultation with us here, or call on +971 4 346 6641.
