Anesthesia
The first step in any surgical cosmetic procedure is the administration of anesthesia to ensure your comfort and relaxation. Your options include local anesthesia, intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your medical professional will talk with you and let you know which is the right option for you during your consultation.
Incisions
Once the anesthesia has taken full effect, your surgeon will make the incisions into the targeted areas of your body. These incisions are tiny since all that is needed is space for a small, hollow tube to enter the fat deposits.
Once the incisions are made, a solution is applied to reduce bleeding from the cut areas.
Fat Removal
This is where the majority of the surgical time is spent. If you are having an assisted liposuction, the surgeon will first perform the appropriate technique to make fat removal easier. Then, they will begin the process of suctioning out fat through a small cannula.
Wound Closure
Once all of the stubborn pockets of fat have been suctioned out of your body, your surgeon will close the minor wounds created using sutures. You will then be transferred to the recovery room to begin the recovery process.
